9 Lessons of Dakshina to Sai Baba on Dussehra

Om Sai Ram! Today I’m very happy to share my experiences with you since this year on Dussehra, I’ve decided to give my “Dakshina” to Sai Baba in the form of my experiences and 9 lessons I learnt from it as 9 coins of Dakshina. I feel that it might give hope to someone who is struggling or to someone who is unable to find a light at the end of a tunnel.

Since the day I’m devoted to Sai Baba, I’ve experienced multiple positive experiences and miracles. Initially I was not a Sai Baba devotee, even though I was a religious person, believed in God and I used to chant Lord Dattatreya Jaap daily. Staying in Maharashtra (Pune), closer to Shirdi, never even travelled to Shirdi until Dec 2016. As Baba says, no one can visit Shirdi/be His devotee unless He wishes so.

My devotion towards Sai Baba started when I moved to the USA after marriage and had a friend who was an ardent Sai devotee. My devotional journey started by accompanying a friend to Sai Baba temple. As Baba says, “I’ll draw you to me even if you are 7 seas away”, it was true in my case.

It’s human nature when calamities occur; we look for support and seek God’s help. I’m no exception to this. Staying in the USA, living away from my husband due to work, handling everything on my own, is not something I was used to doing before. The settlement, starting a family felt like a dream to me. Long-distance relationship challenges were taking a toll on me. My husband was trying to get a company transfer to my place but it was moving at a very slow pace. Neither I was getting a job in his place, nor was he able to move to my place. In this plight, we spent three years. I started being lonely, miserable, and directionless.

Lesson 1 – Bad patch in life can start anytime, it takes you through experiences and lessons which you have not experienced before. Accept it

During that time, my Sai devotee friend came to my rescue, and she suggested that I do “Nav Guruvar Vrat”. However, I was not sure how doing just a vrat was going to improve my situation in any way. However, keeping faith in my friend, I started vrat and started visiting temples regularly. Used to prepare prasad and serve it at the temple on Thursdays. I started feeling a good vibe. I got a blessing from Baba on one of the Thursdays of Nav Guruvar vrat. After serving Prasad, flower fell from Sai Baba’s feet. Inside my heart, I felt that something positive was going to happen soon. My friend brought a Sai Baba Satcharitra book from Shirdi for me. I felt this was a good sign, Sai Baba was coming to stay with us. The wonder of wonders, during the same time, finally my husband’s internal company transfer was finalized and he moved to my city.

Lesson 2 – Sai Baba can lend you a hand for help in any form (e. g. my friend)

Lesson 3 – Vrat, Temples provide you with positive vibrations and make you feel God’s presence with you when you are surrounded by negative energy. Try to do it often.

I thought my struggles have ended now; however, it was just the start of another bad phase. Within 5-6 months of my husband’s company transfer, his company branch in the city was decided to be shut down and he was jobless in no time. This caused a big impact on him; he started being lonely and miserable. I wanted to start a family, however, looking at his situation I could not even bring up this topic. Fights between us were taking a toll on me. I was trying to support him in every way I could. One good thing happened out of this; my in-laws visited us during this time. Their opinion about me changed for good by looking at how I was handling the situation. I suggested my husband read Sai Satcharitra daily and again Sai Baba came to our rescue, and He helped him to secure a good full-time job in a start-up company.

Lesson 4 – Bad patches are part of your life. There can be multiple too.

Lesson 5 – In every bad experience there is something good that happens with you. You should try to find it, which will give you the strength to move forward during your bad patch

Now, I was happy about my husband getting back on track and that things would fall in place finally. However, the relationship between us didn’t improve and due to family conflicts, the fights continued. I was not having any mental peace at all. In the same year, I was approaching my sixth year on my H1-B and my GC application was not initiated yet. I was actively pursuing new job opportunities but didn’t get any offers in hand. Time was running out, I interviewed around 20-30 companies to get a single job offer. Again, Sai Baba came to my rescue and during Guru Purnima day I got a full-time job offer. The new company agreed to start a GC application within 30 days of my joining. It worked out well and my I-140 was approved within a year. Also, surprisingly I used to get all approvals on Thursdays.

Lesson 6 – You should keep trying, never lose hope because Sai Baba is always there to catch you when you fall. Sai Baba’s miracle would happen, but only then when you’ve tried till the end

Another miracle happened recently during COVID lockdown in the year 2020. My husband needed to travel to India for his mom’s knee surgery for three weeks on short notice. A week after he reached India the lockdown started. On top of it, his start-up company started furlough due to lack of funding due to COVID. It was very critical for him to reach the USA before layoffs started because then his H1-B would have been revoked and he wouldn’t have been able to travel back to the USA neither on H1-B nor H4 as visa interviews were suspended. He was stuck in India for almost three months. During that time Air India Vande Bharat mission flights (phase 3) started, however, to book a single ticket was like an impossible event since millions of people were trying to secure tickets on the Air India website and it crashed. He was trying almost for 7-8 hours with no luck and became very disappointed and thought that everything was over. My sister and I were continuously checking for flight tickets from our side during US time and the miracle happened. Somehow with the Internet banking option, we were able to secure a ticket for him and he arrived in the USA on Thursday. A week after he arrived in the USA, his company was shut down and he was laid off. This showed a delay of a week also could have caused him to strangle in India for a year with future uncertainty.

Lesson 7 – Sometimes life situations are not in our hand, it is at mercy of our destiny and God. Things will turn out positive if they are meant to be. With your patience and faith in Sai Baba, keep trying!

He was looking for job opportunities, however, due to the Covid situation; it was very hard to secure a job. My friend suggested that I join the Global Mahaparayan group. I didn’t listen to her as I was tired of this entire situation and didn’t feel like it. 

The situation continued for another 1-2 months. Again, she insisted that I join the Global Mahaparayan. This time I listened to her and tried to join the Global Mahaparayan group. I was on hold for a week to join the actual group. Finally, I was allocated to a global MP group. A miracle happened again on the first Thursday of Mahaparayan; my husband received an FT job offer on the same day.

Lesson 8 – Mahaparayan gives you positive energy and vibrations which are needed when you don’t see a light at the end of a tunnel. It works as a light, which will take you across the tunnel

These miracles would go on…. However, the most precious gift (after eight long years of a wait) Sai Baba has given me on Thursday in July 2021, is that I came to know about my pregnancy on this day. I don’t have any words to thank Sai Baba for what He has done for us. I won’t be able to repay His debt in this or any other life. Just having Him beside me in every good and bad situation keeps me stable, happy, and relaxed. He is there with me. Whenever I pray to Him now, I just say Baba please don’t leave my hand, try to keep me always on the right path.

Lesson 9 – Bad patches in my life taught me about my social responsibility. I felt that I’m occupied with my sadness, my life problems; however, there are many other people in society who need my help who are in more painful and sad situations. As a Dakshina to Baba, I started small monthly donations to NGOs for kids’ education, cancer patients, animals, natural calamities, etc. I feel that Baba will be happy if I do a bit for my social responsibility

Sai Baba Cured Devotee’s Husband

My husband suffers from a stone problem every now and then. But the year 2019-2020 was extremely difficult for us. My husband started having pain due to kidney stones in November 2019. Also, there were other traumatic issues that we were facing those days and his stone problem increased our miseries. We started home remedies to see if the stone could dissolve without surgery. He has had multiple surgeries of stone in the past. Waiting and trying different remedies; three to four months passed. His pain was increasing day by day. So we decided to opt for surgery as the stone size was big. We took an appointment with a renowned doctor for the surgery. But at the last moment due to certain reasons, he was not admitted. We then started looking for other options. In the meantime, Covid struck the country, and a lockdown was imposed. 

One evening, my husband had a fever that started rising and we had a sleepless night. We knew it was due to stone. So, the next day, amidst the lockdown, I took him to the hospital. He had an acute infection due to a stone, which led to a high fever. The doctor gave him the medicine and we came back home. But his condition worsened in the next few hours and he started vomiting continuously. Hospitals had closed OPDs due to lockdown but I had no other option other than to take him to a hospital. When everyone dreaded going out, we both were out on the road and reached the Emergency section of a nearby hospital. He was admitted immediately and we were told that his surgery needed to be carried out. Stone was creating all these problems but his fever had to subsidize, so he was discharged. Then the next day again he had the same high fever and vomits. We were restless and petrified. We again rushed to the emergency and remained there till surgery. The date was given for surgery and he was taken to OT. I kept waiting outside and was hoping that now all would be fine after surgery. But little did I know that it was just the beginning of a painful period ahead. The operating doctor could not extract the stone and said that another round of surgery was needed. We were taken aback but had no other option than to wait for the next surgery. Staying in the hospital during Covid was really scary as I had my kids and mom at home and they could get this infection from us from the hospital. Now the next date of surgery came and he was taken to the OT. This time we were hopeful that things will be fine. But the doctor was unable to extract the stone again. We were shattered, my husband was crying like a baby. He was now sure that he would never recover. 

In the meantime, one of my friends who is an ardent follower of Baba introduced me to the Global Mahaparayan being run. She knew about all the problems being faced by us and realized that Baba could only help us. My husband had a lot of faith in Baba; we had gone to Shirdi Sai in 2019. I immediately joined the MP group and started reading the chapters allocated. This was in April 2020. Although my husband’s health problems persisted, I was now strong and hopeful. After three rounds of trials of surgery, his stone could not be extracted. He had several rounds of fever and infection. One day his colleague who too is a stone patient told him about a doctor in Faridabad. My husband met this doctor the same day and somehow was convinced that things would be fine then. He was given a date for the surgery. He again had a fever and infection before the surgery so it was postponed. I was doing my bit in the MP (Mahaparayan) group.

Finally, he was operated on in June 2020 by this doctor. I had Shri Sai Satcharitra in my hand when he was taken to the OT. My husband bowed at the lotus feet of Baba (picture on the cover page of the book) and told me that this time Baba will set everything right. He was in high spirits which boosted my confidence. I kept waiting frantically outside the OT. In the next 10 minutes, I got the call from the doctor that he wanted to see me. My heart broke as I was sure that this was again an unsuccessful attempt, so in 10 minutes only, the doctor was out of the OT. But to my surprise, the doctor had the stone extracted from my husband’s kidney in his hand and told me that everything was fine. I could not hold back my tears. I had no words to thank Baba. I knew that my husband was very hopeful that Baba would do well, but if this time also if the stone could not be extracted then he would be shattered. Baba knew this and kept our faith alive. I was spellbound. 

Within 2-3 months of joining the Mahaparayan group, I was awarded a miracle. Since then, I am reading allocated chapters with full faith and also completed reading the holy book 3-4 times at my own will. 

Friends, I can’t express the grief and pain faced by our family in these trying times, similarly, I can’t express my gratitude to Baba for taking us out of those trying times. We are now sure that other issues faced by us will also get sorted out.

Friends, keep faith in Baba, He is the Saviour and will do everything for His children when the time is apt. 

My sincere gratitude and vandan to Baba, although they are very small words and also my sincere thanks to my friend who connected me to Baba in real sense and the team maintaining this wonderful platform.

Sai Baba Saved

Coming to my experience, I am a working woman handling my own business. I had to go to India to perform some rituals which were unavoidable. I took my Baba’s permission and booked the tickets. While leaving I told Baba that He had to manage my business and my family when I was not there. 

Everything was going well for a few days but things started falling apart from the fourth day. Our hard drive crashed and my whole business depends on that hard drive. We were supposed to backup all the content of that hard drive on another 2 locations every single day to avoid losing any data but because of my laziness, I didn’t do it. My husband is an IT person and he usually handles all the issues. But he had a very big issue at his work too and couldn’t take care of my business problem immediately. He was struggling with his work, my kids, and on top of it my business problem. Over there I was devastated thinking about all this; what will happen if we are not able to recover the data; my whole business would fall apart. I even questioned my Baba, why did all this happen when He had assured me that He would take care of everything.

I was in the midst of losing hopes and faith. It was like my life was over, how I would handle my clients. So many questions were going on in my mind. My husband was also going through hell. He didn’t sleep for like 10 days, trying to figure out how to restore my data and also trying to fix the problems at his work. 

On top of all these, my younger daughter got a fever and sore throat and the school asked her to quarantine and take COVID test. When I got to know about it, I was more worried and didn’t know what to do. It broke my heart. I was remembering my Sai all the time and I knew that everything would be alright but was losing my patience. Slowly my husband was able to restore some of the files from the cloud backup that we had signed up for over 3 years ago. Initially, it showed that there was data but was not able to recover. He also had given the hard drive to one of the companies where they could restore the data even if the hard drive crashed. He mentioned that he would try but could not guarantee 100 %. I kept on praying to my Baba to give us the strength to handle the situation. 

After two weeks of sleepless nights, we did have most of the data recovered but not completely. I came back yesterday but I am under quarantine. I feel bad that I am not able to help my husband. But I am glad that my Baba is with him. 

Yesterday, the company guy left a message that he was able to recover the data from the hard drive. My husband had another product issue at his work and is busy with that. Hopefully, Baba will free him up today so that he can restore the data from the hard drive and make sure that everything is working properly. Hopefully, things will start getting better and we will be able to come out of this storm. 

My daughter’s COVID test result also came back as negative. Thanks to You Baba. 

Dear devotees please have complete faith in Baba and follow His signs and instructions. Baba had hinted to us, both my husband and me; couple of weeks ago to check the backup status and the hard drive. But because of laziness, we ignored it. I know all this is completely our fault and Baba is trying to avoid some bigger storm and so He let us go through all these problems. I am very sorry Baba for not following Your instructions and taking things for granted. Please help us and guide us, so that everything will fall into its place and help us to follow Your instructions in the future. We both have learned our lesson. We will try to be more careful in the future and never neglect our work and take things for granted. 

Thank You so much Baba for being with us. I am still waiting for my husband to test the contents of the recovered hard drive and restore them. But I am sure that Baba will show us away if there are any problems. Please help us Baba so that I can start working as soon as possible. My Baba is so kind that He made sure that we learn our lesson but did not lose any of my business because all this happened when I was on my vacation. My business was closed anyway. You are so kind and You take care of Your devotees so well. All we need is to have Shraddha and Saburi. Please keep us under Your lotus feet and grace us with faith and patience. Thank You, Baba.

Sai Baba helped again

Dear devotees and team, thank you so much for this platform where we can express our faith, fears, happiness, and everything. 

This morning I woke up at 3h 30 am because I heard my dad suddenly was not feeling well. Then I prayed to Baba and did Jaap to help my dad and calm us, as my mind was getting all types of fears. Then I took Babajaan’s photo from Shirdi and hugged. After 30 minutes he was able to sleep and after that, I too slept in peace. I told Baba that I will light diyas in my temple and post this experience. Thank You Babajaan and thank You Morya. 

The thing that I remembered was “Do not be afraid. Hold fast to the handle of knowledge of this mill, as I do, and do not wander far away from the same, but turn inward to the center, and you are sure to be saved.”

I did it and said to myself that these bad fears and things are not bigger than my faith. When we have faith no evil can harm you as Baba always comes to rescue us. Sairam to all and happy Navratri as I am posting this experience on 4th Navratra. May Maa Durga protect us and help us. Jai Ambe Maa. 

Family, Sai Bhagwan and Mataji Healed  

Anonymous Shirdi Sai Devotee from the USA says: Hi! This happened around Friday afternoon when my voice was cracked and different. Then yesterday, Saturday, I started coughing a little more. Every once in a while or little while I coughed. My voice was still different. Bhagwan and Mataji healed me and now today my voice is better.

 My mom gave me medicine, made me gargle water with salt or something mixed to make me feel better. My Baba also did a Badhha for me. All that helped me with Baba’s blessings. 

Today, I started coughing where I had trouble coughing out what was stuck, maybe mucus or something in my throat or somewhere else which made me cough. I had trouble but Bhagwan and Mataji helped me and I coughed properly and then what was going on stopped. Bhagwan and Mataji healed me and now my voice is better. Jay Sai Ram! Jay Badha Bhagwan! Jay Badha Mataji! May Baba bless You all! 

Sai Baba Kripa 

Anonymous Shirdi Sai Devotee from India says: Om Sai Ram. I am from Haryana. In my past experiences, I have always talked about my nephew’s allergy. With Baba’s grace, he is fine now. His weight has gained so much but hopefully, he will work out upon it. 

The last few weeks were very hectic for us as no one was having good health. I prayed to Sai and now all are improving well. My mom, my brothers, my father, myself, my son; all had health issues but Sai blessed us.

 My son is also leaving breastfeeding with Sai Baba’s grace. Big relief to me! Sai kindly keep Your hand on our heads and sort out all my problems. Om Sai Ram!
