In the UK, my family (my husband, our 9-year-old, and I) lived in a shared house. Unlike other tenants in the UK, we did not have a formal agreement for this accommodation. The house was shared between us, another person, and our landlord. Recently, I was blessed with a baby girl (Om Sai Ram). We felt that the shared accommodation would not be suitable for raising our baby, so we decided to rent a 2BHK. With Baba’s blessings, we found a very good flat.
We vacated the old accommodation and moved to the new flat. The landlord of the old accommodation checked the rooms we lived in and unfairly charged us for damages. For example, he gave us the rooms with an old, dusty carpet at the start of the tenancy, and it became even dirtier after two years of use. However, he claimed the amount for a full carpet replacement. He did not want to return our tenancy deposit and asked for additional money. My husband got annoyed, refused to give the money, and told him to proceed legally. The landlord could not go for legal proceedings as he did not pay government taxes correctly nor had permission to rent his house. In anger, he called us, shouted badly, and threatened my husband.
We were very upset and disturbed. All I could do was pray to the Lord to save us from this torture, as the landlord was being unfair and threatening. By Baba’s grace, he has not contacted us again, and our Baba has kept him away from us. Heartfelt thanks to Sai Appa, and prayers to keep us away from evil people always!
